FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT

Jon and I used to work at FYE. Like most corporate jobs, it wasn’t fun but we made it fun. I just had a pretty bad day at my own job so I thought posting this video would be fitting. Some days, you just can’t take it no more….Wil’ Out!

(no CD’s or DVD’s were harmed in the making of this video)

WHEN THERE’S NO MORE ROOM IN HELL…

Part of me is extremely creeped out by this dude. Then part of me thinks about how much time he must spend at home, by himself making videos, and that kinda makes it cute. Kinda.

And then i watched his video entitled “backscratcher” and it all suddenly went south of heaven.

THE VANITY IS INSANITY

A lot of people are saying how much they like our Mirrors tee. It would be hard for me to try and figure out exactly why that it is. So guess what! I€™m not even going to try and figure that one out. But what I can do is tell you what the shirt means to me and the story behind the design. This is the part where you get really excited€¦because it€™s story time!

There are beautiful people in this world that think they are the ugliest thing. There are people who spend hours in front of the mirror in an ending search for €œperfection€. The sad part is there is no such thing as perfection, and these people were beautiful all along. This says something about us.

Somewhere along the line, we told ourselves that looks and outward appearance were more important than what we hold inside. Television and magazines might have a little something to do with this, just maybe. *wink wink* But I wont get too much into television for now, I€™ll save that for something we might have in our summer collection.

I see it all around me. So much time spent in front of a mirror looking for something that cannot be found, unless we start to believe that it was there all along. This shirt is for those people who keep looking in the mirror, searching for “beauty”, but find a monster staring back at them.

The design of the mirrors tee is set up to look like a mirror in a way. The words €œBreak Your Mirrors€ are repeated to create this shape which is not unlike the shape of a mirror. When you look into the letters, or the mirror, Frankenstein€™s monster is looking back at you. I didn€™t choose this character simply because he looks cool or interesting, although he undeniably does, but I chose him for what he represents.

The monster is judged by the way he looks. While he might be a gentle creature, he is seen as a threat because of his outward appearance. I feel like his struggle in the world fit perfectly into this design. So many of us look into the mirror and see something looking back that we don€™t like. We see something that we fear may be disliked or unaccepted in our society.

Below the repeating text of “Break Your Mirrors” I placed our slogan “Only Ones Need Apply“. There are a few meanings behind this slogan but I’m not going to go into it just yet. I’ll let you try and figure out the relation between that slogan and the message behind the design.

LET’S START TODAY…

Who was it who asked about the last mile being the hardest mile…

I was beginning to think that maybe this brand was cursed. It’s been a long process to get to this day. I€™ve been working on it for a year now. There’s been a lot of nights working into the early hours of the morning and a lot of staying in when I could have been out. I’m really proud of the brand that we’ve built and this is only the beginning. We’re only scratching the surface of the ideas and plans we have in mind for the future.

I have to thank Chris (Start Today Printing) who printed up the shirts and dealt with my unbridled nitpicking. He did a great job and supported us all the way. I have to thank George for taking some awesome pictures of the shirts that you can see now in the shop section. Last but not least, Jessica (S2UDIO) deserves insane kudos for this beautiful site that she made possible. Anytime I threw an idea at her the answer was simply “yes“.

Jon and I built this brand after years of working jobs for minimum wage. Heck…we’re still working those jobs. We wanted to create something that we could work hard at, and in the end, see the results of that work firsthand. I can€™t think of anyone else that has a bigger fire lit under his ass than Jon. €œNo€, is not an option with Jon and words like €œmaybe€ aren€™t used very often with him.

Anyways, I don€™t want to ramble too much. Be sure to check out our spring collection, which is up now in the shop section. Our summer line is in the works now and I€™m working hard to get that out to you guys as soon as possible.

Thanks for checking us out, we really appreciate it.
