DATS BRUTAL!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday to the show. We had a great time and we hope you all did too. If you didn’t come out to the show it doesn’t mean you can’t check out some really talented bands. Footage of a Yeti, Doomsday Mourning, Southside Panic, Judas Syndrome and All The Heathers Are Dying are all great bands that are worth checking out. Interesting fact, the singer for Southside Panic, Chris, prints our shirts. Don’t you feel overwhelmed with a little bit of pointless knowledge. That’s what we’re all about here at Only Ones. His band is dope, that’s a bit of useful knowledge you should not forget.

Here’s a vid of All The Heathers Are Dying from Saturday night. I remember when I saw them play a VFW show they had a cheerleader dancing for their whole set. It was pretty surreal…

ATE E’S

Sure, I was only alive for last 4 years of the 80′s but I enjoy mainstream 80′s music more than 90′s mainstream. Don’t get me wrong there is good music from every decade but something about a lot of the mainstream 90′s rock just never sat well with me. There’s something in my favorite 80′s songs that is sad but filled with hope. Here’s a few tracks from the 80′s that I think are really great.

DISCUSS PUS

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Some artists really blow me away, Pushead is definitely one of those artists for me. Even if you don’t “know” Pushead’s work you really do know it. You can see it on the majority of Metallica shirts, probably what he is best known for. His style is strictly him, something in his lines and shading that is often duplicated but never replicated.

I was talking to my girl the other day about what draws me to streetwear, or at least the brands that I love. I think part of it is how it’s just all mixed together with punk rock, hardcore and metal subcultures. The brands that have inspired me have a history in these subcultures and it comes out in the designs. Pushead has done work for so many different bands and has also made his way into streetwear and skate culture as well.

I think one of the craziest collaborations for me was to see pushead’s vision on a kaws companion…

If that doesn’t make you wanna spend at least 500 bucks on a toy, I don’t know what will.

As I said before Pushead is most well known for his work for Metallica. It’s the perfect matching of art and music…

I could post a shit ton more pictures of his work for Metallica but I’m sure most people are familiar with that work anyway. I’ll leave you with a really powerful piece he did for the hardcore band In My Eyes

So I’m spending time trying to get the next batch of shirts out, this is probably the main reason for my lack of blogging. Listen to this music and try to hold back the tears from the lack of updates I’m giving ya!
